Many of my clients come to me when trying to transition to natural hair. I've always been amazed at how afraid they are of a little water! I always tell them that their new natural hair style will love the water (unlike their old relaxed hair). Great post!

Well, if you really want to make sure that your hair will not get damage, the best thing that you must do is to consult a hair expert. Then try using natural products. It would really help a lot.

Hi, why relax it, why not just get it pressed, it can last for up to 3 weeks, looks just as straight, and you can wear it natural, too. I wouldn't ever relax my hair again. I can't recommend a good product.

I grew my hair from shoulder length to waist length in two years!!
I will be sharing how I grew my hair and giving out tips for healthy hair. And please don’t think that your hair cant grow long. I promise you I have the most coarse hair and I was able to do it! It is not about your hair texture… its about being patient and consistent with treating your hair.

Just want to toss in a few tidbits if I may. Limp hair is easily come by, as you say. Broken protein bonds from chemical stress(perms, straightening)will cause your hair to fall flat because the protein bonds are what hold your hair in its natural shape.
Not sure if too much protein can cause limpness, but I'm sure it causes brittle, easily broken hair, and of course split ends. Chances are, if your hair is limp, it's due to stress and/or lack of structure.

hi gee-gee,

i don't know why your scalp is burning, unless you've scratched it and permed it again. what is going on?? as far as you hair not acting right, realize that you cannot treat your natural hair the same way that you do your relaxed hair. what is your current hair regiment? i'll share mine with you: i section my hair to wash it, use creme of nature shampoo, giovanni smooth as silk conditioner with oil olive, then braid it with a cream leave-in conditioner with olive oil and let it air dry. i either rock a braid-out or style into two-strand twists after. i'm telling you this as a starting point, not an ending point. each person's regiment will be different. you'll have to do so research online, and trial and error with different products/treatments and find what works for you. best :)
