Extra Virgin Olive Oil, also known as EVOO, is a natural remedy to some hair care issues. EVOO is wonderful for hair. Consider using EVOO in the following ways:
For Added Slip – EVOO is an oil that may be added to products to provide extra “slip”, which makes the product go through the strands easier; this makes manipulating the hair easier.
As a Detangler – EVOO may also be used as a detangling agent. The oil may be applied to the hair, and be worked through your coils in order to make detangling a breeze.
As a Sealant – Extra Virgin Olive Oil may be used to “seal” in moisture that comes from moisturizers in order to give the hair an extra layer of protection.
To Enhance Your Conditioner’s Properties – Your conditioner may be fine on its own, but it may be spectacular once you add in evoo. Through trial and error you can quickly find out if your hair loves added evoo in your conditioner.
For Oiling the Roots or Scalp – If you have a dry scalp or a low production of sebum, consider oiling the scalp with evoo.
As a Deep Conditioner/Hot Oil Treatment– Let the EVOO sit on the hair with a bag on it…add heat if you like and enjoy an all natural DC or a hot oil treatment.
The Essentials – Products I Need for My Type 4 Hair
Shea Butter – heavy butter for sealing in moisture, softens hair
Aloe Vera Gel (AVG) – for hold, natural moisturizer, promotes growth
Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (EVCO) – makes hair manageable, seals in moisture, pre-poo
Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) – prepoo, sealant, carrier oil/mixes well w/other oils
Castor Oil – thickens hair naturally, sealant
Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) – balances porosity, cleanses scalp, curl definition
VO5 Moisture Milks or Suave Naturals Conditioner – cowash conditioner, cleanses w/o stripping hair
Henna – natural thickener, strengthener, dye/colorant
These are the absolute essentials that I keep in my arsenal. Other products vary – the DC and protein treatments of my choice. As you can see, I focus on natural products that do the trick better than most synthetically constructed products. Try these out and see if you get some of the same benefits as I have listed above. You can’t go wrong with them. Most of them have multiple uses – which I love!
Jamaican Black Castor Oil Lavender Scent Review
Though I have only been using the Jamaican Black Lavender Scented Castor Oil for about a short while, I already love it! Let’s just say that I see what all of the “buzz” has been about. I love the consistency of it and the feel. I even enjoy the scent (and I am no huge fan of lavender scented things); I’m not sure what the unscented Jamaican Black Castor Oil smells like, but I know I can appreciate this one. I must admit, since I received the Jamaican Black Lavender Scented Castor Oil, I have pretty much disregarded the previously beloved Home Health Castor Oil. Besides the fact that I am almost out of the Home Health Castor Oil, the JBCO allows for easier application and I would like to isolate the results I achieve from using the JBCO exclusively.
Quick Assessment of the Jamaican Black Castor Oil Lavender Scent
- Soaks into the scalp
- Absorbs Quickly
- Promotes Healthy Growth
- Promotes Thickness
- Great Sealant for Moisture
- Nice Consistency (Not too thick, yet not watery)
Thus far, I would have to say that it is truly wonderful. I give it a 5/5. Release your inhibitions and don’t hesitate to try it.

Aloe Vera Gel Benefits for Hair
Do you ever get tired of searching through forums and the net reading up on the latest “it” factor for moisture or growth? Are you exhausted after reading through the labels for hair care products? Do you need to tame you inner PJ (product junkie) from buying tons of expensive products that claim to fulfill your hair care needs? Well, look no further than today’s post! Aloe Vera Gel is an all natural alternative to many synthetic products that has been established as a very helpful tool in the management of our hair! I have been using Aloe Vera gel for an extended time now and I absolutely love the results on my hair.
Aloe Vera Gel Benefits for Hair:
- Activates Fresh Growth
- Heals and Soothes Damaged Scalp from Scratches, Burns, Dandruff, etc.
- Reduces Dandruff, Itchy, Scaly Scalp and Seborrheic Dermatitis
- Balances pH Level of Hair
- Tames Oily Hair
- Defines Curl
- May Serve as a Holding Gel
- Prevents Excessive Hair Loss
- Enhances Cellular Rejuvenation
- Contains Natural Building Enzyme for Proteins
After reading all of those pros, we see that Aloe Vera Gel isn’t just excellent for the skin or its internal effects on the body, but it’s great for the hair as well! I say it’s worth a try! I use AV gel by Lily of the Desert. It has proved to moisturize my hair instantly, with my consistent use!
Though I love Aloe Vera Gel, I would recommend that anyone who is willing to try it, use it with caution, as everyone’s hair does not react the same way to all products, natural or not. If you decide to try the Aloe Vera Gel, I strongly suggest that you use the all natural Aloe Vera Gel with no alcohols and/or little to no preservatives. A health food store is the best place to find such. Until next time, Happy Healthy Hair Growing!!!
